This handsome boy is Mako, a 7-year-old black male cat who has endured far more than any cat ever should. 

 

Mako was recently involved in a deeply distressing incident. We believe he was cruelly kicked, resulting in a serious injury that led to the loss of one of his back legs. He has since undergone surgery and is recovering well physically. Understandably, the trauma has left him feeling anxious, which has shown through some over-grooming and fur pulling. He’s currently on a course of steroids to help soothe his skin, and his stress levels are being carefully supported here at the shelter.

 

Through it all, Mako’s gentle nature shines through. He is a sweet, friendly boy who truly loves human company and has a particular fondness for playing with string. He loves being tucked in under a blanket. He’s comfortable around children and most adults, although he prefers not to share his space with younger kittens.

 

Having always been an outdoor cat, we feel Mako would thrive in a home with a safe, secure garden where he can enjoy exploring at his own pace and basking in the sunshine once he’s settled. 

 

Mako’s previous family loved him very much, but after everything he’s been through, they felt the kindest decision was to allow him the chance to start anew in a calm, understanding home where he can rebuild his confidence and enjoy the peaceful life he so deserves.
