Rosco
What a guy!
This beautiful boy, only around 18 months to 2 years old, has been all over Facebook for the past year. Known to many in Edgeley especially Castle Street; Rosco spent months wandering the streets, going in and out of shops, pubs, and takeaways, just looking for food, shelter, and a bit of kindness. We believe he was dumped, as he simply appeared one day and never left—and no one ever came forward to claim him.
Despite countless sightings and vet visit, nobody came forward for him and with no chip, no neuter, he needed to come into rescue.
Honestly, we didn’t have room…. we are flat out trying to get the charity shop open and juggling everything else. But one look at his sweet little face, and we offered him Katie's bathroom.
From Katie: Yesterday was his new beginning: he was neutered and microchipped, this boy is such a character! He craves human affection and love, he can sometimes be misunderstood as he can get overstimulated. He has had a lifetime of learning that humans can be mean. He is learning that humans can be kind but sometimes his defensive instincts kick in and he can swipe at you when he's had enough attention.
But what breaks me is the cruelty he’s survived.
Feeders told me that Rosco has been punched, kicked, thrown, had pint glasses chucked at him, beer poured over him, locked inside flats by kids, and even taken by a drunk man in a taxi to Cheadle and dumped again.
He survived by begging outside takeaways, living off scraps and the occasional bit of donner meat. One kind lady did feed him when she saw him—but that was only once a week.
He’s now safe, but Rosco needs and deserves a forever home.
Here’s what Rosco needs:
• A loving family willing to give him the time to settle.
• He must be kept indoors for at least two months so he can feel safe, secure, and know he’s finally home.
• Eventually, he would love safe outdoor access, he’s a young, curious boy, probably under 2 years old.
• He’d be fine with older cat savvy children and would absolutely thrive on affection on his terms until he feels truly safe. He’s a proper shoulder cat and is trying so hard to trust the people around him. He is coming on in leaps and bounds.
