Meet Barry, he’s one of the cats we rescued from the alley in Levenshulme.

He had endured some horrific injuries living rough on the street, his face had a trauma to it and was bleeding and he has a limp from his front left shoulder. But now he is recovering nicely at the shelter.

He’s been neutered, microchipped and all up to date with his flea and worm treatment. He has unfortunately tested positive for FIV, yet don’t let that put you off. It means his immune system is impaired and he can’t have his vaccinations. He’s only about 3 years old and can still live to a good age with the right care and understanding his needs.

He’s on medication for the trauma to his face and shoulder, giving him pain relief. He’s been through a lot of stress living out in such squalor, yet he is one of the most loving boys I’ve ever met... not at all feral. He absolutely loves soaking up all the attention and playing with his mouse on a string.

He’s so gentle considering his past life and loves to be just held in your arms and he will cuddle right into you. My friend described him being so warm to hold. He clearly has a great soul with this big green eyes that look at you.

His eyes light up when you show him the brush he nudges into you for more. This boy deserves a good chance at life and I know he is going to be a great companion.

Barry would love someone to call his own, someone who will play with him as he jumps for the flying feather and is in his element rolling around in cat nip. He’d love a warm bed to sleep in or a lap to lye on and cosy up next to you on the sofa.

Please come and meet Barry. He’s presently at the shelter waiting patiently for a home.
